Do you know the history of Haman’s ears candy?
The name refers to the biblical character Haman from the Old Testament. Haman was a confidant of the Persian king and sought to kill all the Jews in the Persian Empire. His plan was eventually foiled by Queen Esther, who was herself of Jewish descent. In a figurative sense, then, the phrase “Haman’s ears” is used to describe any malicious plan.
Haman’s ears are traditionally baked on the holiday of Purim, which is celebrated in mid-March and symbolizes the rescue of the Jewish people from Haman’s plot, the fight against anti-Semitism and the preservation of the identity of the Jewish people. Purim is a joyful and noisy holiday, full of laughter and masks. For whenever Haman is mentioned, Jews are supposed to drown out his name with as much noise, shouting and table pounding as possible.

The preparation of the poppy seed filling is also simple. Heat the milk in a saucepan, add the sugar, ground poppy seeds, honey, cinnamon and lemon zest. Simmer briefly until thickened and allow to cool.
Put a teaspoon of filling in the middle of each round and join into a triangle so that the filling does not spill out. Bake the patties in a preheated oven at about 170 degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes (or just until golden brown, as each oven bakes differently). After baking, let cool and lightly dust with sugar.
